Costello welcomes Dublin City Council’s plans to purchase Dalymount Park

by Cllr Joe Costello

I welcome Dublin City Council’s proposed acquisition of Dalymount Park from Bohemians Football Club.

Dalymount Park has a long and proud history as a football ground, and its purchase from Dublin City Council will secure its future.

I have worked with Bohemians, Dublin City Council and other interested parties over a number of months to facilitate this deal, and I am delighted that it has now come to fruition.

I would like to congratulate all those involved in the negotiations that have resulted in an outcome that benefits all sides.

Bohemians will continue to have its headquarters in Dalymount and to play its home games there, and Dublin City Council will now own a major sporting facility and will be able to develop a municipal sports centre for the benefit of the entire community.

Moreover, Dalymount Park will now become an integral part of the Phibsborough Local Area Plan.
